A video is going viral on social media showing how waves were hitting Pamban bridge on 16th November. A Twitter user NaradMuni shared the video with a caption "Rameswaram Pamban Bridge by 7 am today (16-11-18)".
Another user uploaded the same video with a caption "Rameswaram Pamban Bridge by 7 am today (16-11-18) Received in WhatsApp"
The video is going viral on WhatsApp.
About Pamban Bridge: The Pamban bridge, which connects the Pamban Island to Rameswaram, is a railway bridge. A road bridge runs adjacent to it. The bridge, officially called Annai Indira Palam, is 2.345 km long and was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on October 2, 1988.
Since the adjacent railway bridge is missing in the video, this can't ben Pamban bridge.
We found that the video has gone viral in past as well. Last year, the same video was described as 'Kerala Sea Bridge' during cyclone Ockhi that battered southern Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The video was also passed on as the Worli-Mumbai sea link in Mumbai during cyclone Ockhi. Sm HoaxSlayer had debunked this video last year proving that the video is not from Mumbai either. As per SMHoaxSlayer:
We found this video was first uploaded on 24th Aug 2017 claiming to be From Lakshadweep. The description of the video reads "Huge waves attacked Minicoy Island Eastern Jetty on 23/08/2017. No causalities reported but some local catamaran destroyed in Agatti and Chetlat Island."
The viral video is not of Pamban bridge or Worli-Mumbai sea link in Mumbai.
We can't confirm the actual origin of the video but the available evidence suggests that the video is from Lakshadweep.
