Summary

A verified Twitter user Ali Keskin shared three years old unverified video to show Indian Army vandalising a house with women and children inside.

A verified Twitter user Ali Keskin shared a video to show how the Indian Army harasses innocent women and children in Kashmir. In the video shared by him, a few men in a police uniform can be seen throwing stones and bricks in a house.

You can watch the video here:

Another verified Twitter user Lord Nazir Ahmed shared the video with a caption, "Indian Occupied #kashmir Evidence of rogue Army vandalising and terrorising a house with women and children inside".

Old and unverified Video

We did a keyword search on Youtube and found the same video as a result for the keyword "Indian army attacking the house of Kashmiri". The video was uploaded by a Youtube channel "Inside The Kashmir" on 17th Aug 2016.

While the viral video is of 1 minute and 58 seconds, the youtube video is of 4 minutes and 35 seconds. You can watch the video here:

The Youtube user has claimed that the men in uniform are Indian Army Jawans but we couldn't find any conclusive evidence to support the claim. We extracted keyframes and tried a reverse image search but didn't get any information about this video.

However, we found one report by Greater Kashmir claiming that Army had allegedly vandalized property and beat up inmates following a stone-pelting incident in a village in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir.  Reports said that army men were withdrawing from Astan Mohalla area of Wallerhama village after concluding a cordon-and-search operation. Army men thrashed several persons and smashed windowpanes of houses and parked cars following a minor stone-pelting incident in the village. However, we couldn't independently verify the authenticity of the report. Moreover, the report is from 2017 while the viral video already exists on the web since 2016.

Now, since the video is at least 3 years old, it is certain that it has no relation with ongoing Kashmir situation after Article 370 and 35A were repealed and the state was bifurcated into two union territories.

This is not the first time for Ali Keskin. Earlier, he shared an edited video of protest by the supporters of Gurmeet Ram Rahim to show Indian soldiers massacring women and children in Kashmir.

Before thathe had tweeted 11 years old picture to show how Indian soldiers are massacring Muslims in Kashmir. However, the picture was of a slain terrorist who was shot down by CRPF troops in 2008.

No firing incidents in Valley in past one week: J&K Police

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have brushed aside media reports of firing incidents in the Kashmir Valley, saying they did not fire a single bullet for nearly a week and the situation in the region is calm.

Inspector General (IG) of Police, Kashmir, SP Pani has also rejected media reports, saying they are false and no firing incident has taken place in the Valley in last one week.

However, it is important to mention that Siddharth Varadarajan has reported in The Wire that at least 21 young men and boys were brought in to Srinagar’s main hospital for treatment for pellet injuries in the first three days after the Modi government announced the scrapping of special constitutional provisions for Jammu and Kashmir, and the end of its status as a state. However, we couldn't independently verify the authenticity of the report.
