Viral Video From Azerbaijan Falsely Shared As Israeli Generals Detained by Hamas Fighter

The video has been posted by several users on various social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube with the same claim.

Fact Check

After doing a reverse image search of the Keyframes of the video, we found several reports that prove that the video is from Azerbaijan and not at all related to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

According to report.az, the video depicts the arrest of the accused for creating illegal armed groups in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.

those detained as a result of the activities carried out by the State Security Service on October 3, 2023, including Arkady Ghukasyan, born in 1957, a native of the city of Khankandi, Bako Sahakyan, born in 1960, a native of the same city, and Davit Ishkhanyan, born in 1958, a native of the Khojavand region, were brought to criminal liability under articles 214.2.1, 214.2.2, 214.2.3 of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic (terrorism committed by an organized group with repeated use of firearms, explosives and devices), 214-1 (financing of terrorism), 214-3.2 (organization of exercises for the purposes of terrorism), 228.3 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of firearms, their components, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices by an organized group) and 279.3 (creation of armed formations not provided for by law and groups and participation in their activities).

The video was also shared on the official Youtube channel of DTX i.e. State Security Service of The Republic of Azerbaijan on October 5.

About DTX

In the viral video, we can clearly see DTX written on soldiers' uniforms. ‘The State Security Service (Dövlət Təhlükəsizlik Xidməti – DTX) of Azerbaijan serves as the primary domestic intelligence agency and is responsible for handling matters related to national security and intelligence within the country. It was established following the dissolution of the Ministry of National Security in 2015, as decreed by President Ilham Aliyev through Presidential Decree 706 on December 14, 2015.’

In addition, the flag on the army’s shoulder is the Academy Flag of the State Security Service in Azerbaijan.
