A Twitter user Ali Keskin tweeted a picture to show how Indian soldiers are massacring Muslims in Kashmir. His tweet reads, "Indian soldiers in Kashmir are massacring. The world is silent because the dead are Muslims #Kashmir".
The tweet has received more than 8000 retweets and 11000 likes.
We did a reverse image search and was redirected to the outlook photo gallery where a Youtube's screenshot of the picture was added with a description "Kashmir protest video on YouTube".
The date on the screenshot is Oct 6, 2008.
On further research, we found a blog post by journalist Ajai Shukla dated 6th May 2008. The description of the photo reads, "CRPF troopers in Srinagar, J&K, after shooting an alleged militant. The towns and cities in J&K are now almost entirely held by the CRPF, along with the J&K police".
It is clear that the photo which is going viral now is from 2008 and the dead body is of an alleged militant (terrorist) and not any common citizen.
The viral picture tweeted by Ali Keskin is 11 years old and was captured by journalist Ajai Shukla when CRPF troops had shot down an alleged militant.
There have not been any recent report about firing on the common citizen in Kashmir. Hence, the claim that the above picture shows the massacring of common Muslims in Kashmir by Indian soldiers is false.
