  • Share

Summary

In some of the major affected areas, Section 144 has been implemented to prevent the further spread of the virus. However, until now, there is no such government reports of 'four-phase plan to control the outbreak.'

Amid the massive Covid19 outbreak, an image presenting the four-phase plan in India is being widely circulated WhatsApp. The text written on it makes various claims about what steps the government will be taken between March 20 and June.

The image is viral on Whatsapp. We also received a request on WhatsApp to check its veracity.

The claims made in the viral post are:

  •  From March 20 to April 12, lockdown/ Section 144 will be implemented in all major affected areas, with the closure of all schools, colleges, restaurants, bars, etc. Public transport will be limited and employees of private entities to follow 'work from home'.
  •  From April 13 to May 17, the situation will be re-assessed and school, colleges, etc will be opened accordingly. Working from home will still be encouraged.
  •  From May 18 to May 31, the second phase of lockdown/Section 144 might be implemented to ensure that the cases do not rise. A graph of 1918 flu presented to show the rise in the number of cases.
  •  List off all restrictions. Ask people to take precautions. Monitor and asses the situation.

This image is also viral on Twitter. A user shared this image and wrote, " National lockdown getting announced by our Prime Minister today at 8 PM... Applicable from tomorrow i.e 20thMarch2020..Section 144 to be imposed across the country."
