Ankit Sharma's brother refutes Wall Street Journal claim that mob chanting Jai Shri Ram killed his brother

  • Share

Summary

The Wall Street Journal, a US-based journal, recently published an article about the ongoing violence in Delhi. They had published that Ankur Sharma, the brother of murdered IB officer Ankit Sharma claimed that Ankit was murdered by a mob chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. However, this news was countered by Ankur himself who denied making such claims and now the journal is under fire.

AAP councilor Tahir Hussain has been the talk of the news after being accused of heading the Delhi violence after being seen throwing stones and other objects at a crowd from his place, which we claimed to be self-defense. He has also been alleged for the murder of IB officer Ankit Sharma, which was also denied by Hussain. Videos of people claiming that they witnessed the violence on Sharma happen have been virally spreading through social media.

However, the involvement of Hussain in the brutal murder of Sharma is subject to investigation.

News about Delhi violence has taken the main stage of national importance and is undeniably sensitive. In this light, the well known US-based journal, Wall Street Journal, posted an article about how the ruling party government is being slammed for the Delhi violence. In their article, they had written that Ankit Sharma was attacked by rioters while they shouted “Jai Shri Ram” and they had adhered to this claim to be made by Ankit Sharma’s brother, Ankur Sharma over a phone interview. They had also apparently made claims that Ankur Sharma told the reporters that his brother was attacked by a Hindu mob.

However, the situation took a major turn when Ankur Sharma stated that Tahir Hussain’s goons were the ones who killed his brother and that he had never issues such a statement to WSJ.

In a conversation with Prasad Bharati News Services, Ankur Sharma said, "I never gave such a statement to Wall Street Journal. This is a ploy to defame my brother and my family. Wall Street Journal is lying."

Following this, complaints were filed against WSJ for “defaming particular religion & spreading communal tension" and also misreporting on the Delhi violence situation, especially the murder of Ankit Sharma.

In conclusion, the brother of Ankit Sharma, Ankur Sharma has made it clear that he did not issue the statement published in an article by the WSJ. This led to legal action being taken against the journal. Moreover, the investigation is underway and it has not been officially found that who is behind the gruesome murder of Ankit Sharma, thus as of now, no allegation should be considered as the truth, in order to avoid the spreading of fake news.
