A morphed image was shared by an AAP functionary to undermine and mock the meeting between Trump and PM Modi.
Donald Trump is all set to visit India on the 24th of February in a 36-hour-long trip, where he is scheduled to be received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad. Ahead of the trip, preparations are underway to welcome the US President, following which a number of unverified claims are doing rounds on social media.
To undermine Trump's trip, Aam Aadmi Party social media in-charge, Aishwary Verma tweeted an image in which a man can be seen urinating on a wall painted with the image of President Donald Trump and Narendra Modi.
In another tweet, Aishwary mocked PM Modi and his supporters, saying "innocent Bhakt” is trying to strengthen the wall by urinating on it."
The truth behind the claim
The widely shared image is a fake and morphed image. The image used to edit was originally by an Associated Press reporter Ajit Solanki and has also been used in one of their articles titled, “India hastily builds wall along slum ahead of Trump visit”.
A comparison between the image used in the AP article and image shared on Twitter by AAP member makes it evident that the later is morphed.
As one can see, the man riding the bike appears in both images, and in the original image there is a shadow of a nearby bush on the wall, however, there is no shadow image of the man urinating.
In conclusion, a morphed image was shared by an AAP functionary to undermine and mock the meeting between Trump and PM Modi.
