On 9th January, Congress leader Salman Nizami tweeted a video in which some people are beating Aam Aadmi Party MLA Pankaj Pushkar. Nizami shared the video along with a caption, "Aam Aadmi Party MLA Pankaj Pushkar was beaten and kicked by the people of his constituency for remaining inaccessible and absent for five years ! Rising level of AAP. "

Akali Dal spokesperson Manjinder Sirsa, had also shared the video from his official Twitter account on 8 August 2019 with a caption “AAP MLA Pankaj Pushkar attacked by the public during a raid on ration shops. Arvind kejriwal and his companions get their markets filled with insult everyday and when we expose their misdeeds then we face a case of defamation on us".

In the investigation, we found that the viral video of AAP MLA Pankaj Pushkar is from August last year when he visited ration shops in Nehru Vihar area of Delhi for a surprise inspection and was beaten up by shopkeepers. Pankaj is an MLA from Timarpur's seat in Delhi.

On searching the keywords 'Aam Aadmi Party MLA Pankaj Pushkar thrashed' on Google, we got a TOI  report, published on August 4, 2019. The report was titled,  'AAP MLA manhandled on his visit to ration shops.'

According to the report, A mob chased and manhandled Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Timarpur, Pankaj Pushkar, when he visited north Delhi's Nehru Vihar to take stock of the functioning of ration shops in the area. Pushkar was accompanied by food and Supplies Minister Imran Hussain. A crowd started protesting against the MLA when he asked for the record books of a few ration shops. He was later chased and thrashed by locals after he allegedly got into an argument with them.

We also found a video related to this incident uploaded on TOI's YouTube channel. This video closely matches Salman Nizami's tweeted video.
