In our investigation, we found out that an old video from May 2019 is being used to claim that a 'show-cause notice' has been issued to Pragya Thakur for her latest remark on Nathuram Godse, and to mislead people.
Following the event where industrialist Rahul Bajaj raised questions about the BJP government's attitude towards criticism and MLAs like Pragya Thakur, in presence of BJP leaders like Amit Shah and Nirmala Sitharaman, a related video was posted on Twitter by a page named 'Political Kida'.
The video was shared with a caption, "Just another day, Another propaganda of Ravish Kumar has been destroyed. Political Kida earned Respect+ Ravish Kumar earned Dhai Hajar panch sau."
At the time of writing this article, this video has been shared more than 300 times. You can watch the complete video down below.
In the video, on one side journalist Ravish Kumar can be heard quoting Rahul Bajaj that no journalist will dare to ask questions about Sadhvi Pragya's remark on Nathuram Godse. On the other side, Anjana Om Kashyap asked Amit Shah, " If Pragya Thakur wins from BJP's ticket, what will the party do?", on which Amit Shah replied that a notice has been issued to her after which disciplinary committee will decide further steps.
The video and caption shared with it suggest that Ravish Kumar is making a false claim as BJP is also questioned. After watching this video, one would get the impression that a notice has been sent to Pragya Thakur on calling Nathuram Godse a patriot.
In the video, Anjana Om Kashyap asks "What steps BJP will take if Pragya Thakur wins from BJP's ticket?". It is clear that the journalist is referring to some election, and in the near future, there are no elections in which Pragya Thakur is contesting.
On a keyword search, we found a video of the same event in which Anjana questioned Amit Shah about Pragya Thakur, on India Today.
This video was upload on 17 May 2019 during the Lok Sabha elections.
Clearly, this is an old video that has been used in a different context after Pragya Thakur again called Nathuram Godse a 'patriot'.
This time, no notice has been issued to Pragya Thakur's on her remarks. However, she has herself apologized on 28th November in Lok Sabha.
In conclusion, an old video from May 2019 is being used to claim that a 'show-cause notice' has been issued to Pragya Thakur for her latest remark on Nathuram Godse, and to mislead people.
However, there is another aspect of this video. Ravish Kumar has said that today's journalist will be hesitant to ask questions about Sadhvi Pragya to Amit Shah but the video shared by Political Kida clearly shows Anjana Om Kashyap asking a similar question to the then BJP president Amit Shah.
