The viral image of Mamata Banerjee with the caption that if she was born in Pakistan, then she would have dropped a nuclear bomb on India is false. She has never made any statement like this.
A message is going viral on social media claiming that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has said that if she was born in Pakistan then she would have dropped nuclear bombs on India. A Facebook user name Rakesh Bhatnagar shared it on Facebook.
Similar claims have been made on Facebook in the past. A Facebook page named AJNews24 had made a similar claim on 25 November 2017, writing that "if I was born in Pakistan, then I would have dropped a nuclear bomb on India"- Mamata Banerjee
Another Facebook user Gautam Pandey wrote, "if I was born in Pakistan, then I would have dropped a nuclear bomb on India: Mamata Banerjee". You must also say two words for them.
To search this image we did reverse research on google and we found an article during the search. This article has been written by NDTV in reference to 'Indo Asia News Agency'. In the picture, Mamata Banerjee has been shown speaking on the issue of safety of industrialists in the year 2016.
During the search, we received another article from NDTV after the Balakot air strike by Indian Air Force, Mamata had sought evidence of this action. She questioned the air strike saying, "The lives of the soldiers are more precious than electoral politics, but the country has the right to know that the IAF in Balakot, Pakistan What actually happened there after the air strikes? "
she gives another statement but she never said that if I was born in Pakistan, then I would have dropped a nuclear bomb on India.
Although, in a meeting in May 2017, Mamata Banerjee definitely said that it was a matter of shame for her to be born on this earth. Mamata had said, "All religions should be made peacefully, not by taking the sword and scaring, it is a shame that I was born on this earth". This controversial statement of Mamata came after the local BJP leader called her a 'Kinnar'. It was published by several reputed media institutions prominently.
The news agency ANI also tweeted this statement of Mamata.
Further, we tried different searching techniques to get to the bottom of the news but we could find any instance where she said that if she was born in Pakistan she would have thrown atom bomb on India.
If by any chance Mamata Banerjee had made such a statement then it would have been a piece of great news and in the media, it would have been in the headlines which probably fall under the category of Sedition.
