On January 21,  Joseph R. Biden, Jr., has been sworn in as the 46th president of the United States. Following this, a purported screengrab of Fox News has surfaced on social media claiming that the news channel has reported, ‘Joe Biden has been President for nine hours and 400,000 Americans are dead’.

A Facebook user shared the image with the caption saying, "Joe Biden has been President for nine hours and 400,000 Americans are dead already. What is he doing?"

Another Facebook user shared the image with the caption saying, "Fox News take over as opposition news media, Biden hope you are ready for this like Trump?"

The image is also doing rounds on Twitter. 

The truth behind the claim 

In our investigation, we found this claim to be false. ‘Fox News’ has not reported any such news. The screenshot was originally shared by ‘The Daily Show with Trevor Noah’. The same ‘Fox News’ template has been used by ‘The Daily Show with Trevor Noah’ on many previous occasions.

In the viral image, one can notice a watermark of 'The Daily Show with Trevor Noah’ n the top right. 

On checking the social media pages of The Daily Show, we found this image carried in a tweet by the official page of 'The Daily Show'. 

The same ‘Fox News’ template has been used by ‘The Daily Show with Trevor Noah’ on many previous occasions at least since February 2018. They have the same accompanying message – ‘Hannity tonight’.

Moreover, we did not found any such report by any credible source. 

In conclusion, an edited ‘Fox News’ screengrab shared by  ‘The Daily Show with Trevor Noah’  with headling saying  '400,000 Americans died within 9 hours of Biden’s Presidentship' is being falsely shared as a real report by the Fox News.
