  • Share

Summary

The viral claim that The Tamil Nadu government and Madras high court have changed their motto from Tamil to Hindi is false. We found that the Madras High Court motto has always been in Sanskrit. Also, the Tamil Nadu government has not changed its motto from Tamil to Hindi.

In the backdrop of the Hathras case and outrage over it, an image is going viral on social media platforms showing a screengrab of Hindi News Channel Aaj Tak with a headline suggesting that UP CM Yogi Adityanath has said that Thakurs are hot-blooded and do make mistakes.

A user named Amit Bidawat shared the screengrab on Facebook with a caption, "People are expecting justice from him."

This post has been shared over 550 times.

Another Facebook user also shared the same screengrab.

The same image also being widely shared on Twitter.

The truth behind the claim

In our investigation, we found the viral screengrab to be edited.

We did not find any media houses reporting this statement of Uttar Pradesh's CM Yogi Adityanath.

Moreover, a comparison between the viral screengrab and a screengrab from Aaj Tak's original story shows noticeable differences to figure out that the viral screengrab is edited.

As one can see, Aajtak Channel uses a background of different shades fading from red to dark red, while the Viral one has light red. Also, Hindi fonts are different and there are few grammatical errors in the viral screengrab.

In conclusion, the viral screengrab showing UP CM Yogi Adityanath made a statement that 'Thakurs are hot-blooded and do make mistakes' is digitally edited. Yogi Adityanath has not any such statement.
