Few pictures of Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant, who is well known for her controversial posts and statements have gone viral on social media in which she can be seen posing while embracing the flag of Pakistan.

 A Facebook user name Pankaj Saini  posted a set of three pictures with a caption, "This is the truth about Rakhi Sawant. She speaks nonsense about her being a proud Indian." ( Roughly translated from Hindi )

After that, several netizens sharing the same collage of photos and captions on Twitter to attack the actress.

Fact Check 

In our investigation, we found that the viral claim is false. The pictures were taken during the shoot of the movie "Dhara 370" in 2019. 

After doing reverse image research on Google, we found many news reports in which the same picture is featured. According to a report Rakhi Sawant shared photos of her embracing the Pakistani flag, in her social media account. It was part of a shoot for the film Dhara 370. Rakhi features as an item girl in the film which also stars Television actor Hiten Tejwani.

On 8 May 2019, Rakhi posted the same images on her Instagram profile and clarified that the pictures were taken during the shoot of "Dhara 370" with the caption, "I love my India but it's my character in the film Dhara 370."

After receiving online hate, She also posted a video on Instagram clarifying that this was for a role for her of a Pakistani girl in the movie.

According to IMBD, the movie is based on the real story of burning Kashmir. In the year 1990, when an estimated population of around 7 lakh Hindu Kashmiri was forcibly uprooted from their homeland by the Muslim fanatics of Kashmir in connivance with the Pakistani army. In the movie, Rakhi plays a Pakistani woman and appears in one song.

In conclusion, the viral image of Rakhi Sawant with the Pakistani flag draped around her was taken during the shoot of the movie "Dhara 370" in 2019. The photo has not been taken recently, and as Rakhi herself clarified in 2019, it was part of a shoot for a film. Rakhi plays a Pakistani woman in the movie.
