Food Corporation of India refutes the scroll's report that 65 lakh MT food grains wasted in four months

Summary

The “wasted food grains” mentioned in the Scroll's article are actually stocks lying in procurement centers. The actual quantity of food grains stocks that became non-issuable (damaged) during 2019-20 is just 1930 MTs and that too largely due to natural calamities like floods.

A Youtube video is going viral on social media claiming that three people were burnt alive for killing cows in India. The video shows four men being tied to chains and then put in a cage. The cage is then airlifted and dropped inside bush which is then set on fire. The caption of the viral video reads, "4 Muslim men are burnt alive in India."

The description given to the video reads, "Can’t believe eyes, in the supervision of police & massive crowd. They slaughtered a cow, meagre a cow. Extremists who have taken over #Endia believe that cows are holier than a human being. The world is quiet for the sake of business. Your tongues & hands aren’t tightened, please boycott this beastly nation. #BoycottIndia".

A twitter user name Imad Salar share the same video with a caption "4 Muslims men burnt alive in India"

Fact Check

In our investigation, We came to know that the video which is going viral was actually a magician's magic show which was performed in 2008 in Kerala. Some parts of the same video are now being clipped and spread with false and communal claims. 

After doing reverse-image search using the keyframes of the video we found an original video which is of 6:31 minutes in length. The video was uploaded on 25 August 2017 on a YouTube channel called MM Puthiyath. The caption reads "World's first mass fire escape | Malappuram Kottapadi stadium | fire escape 2008". The clip getting viral has been taken from this video. It is clearly visible in the video that it was magic stunt. In this, three people were locked in cages and set on fire. But later they came out safely.

According to the description of the video, the show took place in 2008 at Malapuram Kottapadi Stadium. The magicians are identified as MM Puthiyath Edavanna, magician Shajahan Mampad, magician Sudeer Chungathara, magician Hameed Edakkara.

In conclusion, an old video of a magic show is shared on social media with a false claim that four Muslims were burnt alive in India for slaughtering cows.
