Truth behind the viral video of a man eating raw meat of a dead animal from road

  • Share

Summary

The viral video of a man, eating raw meat of a dead animal is from Rajasthan's Shahpura.

In the backdrop of coronavirus crisis and ordeals faced by migrant workers, a disturbing video surfaced on social media in which a man can be seen eating the carcass of an animal that died on a road. It is being claimed that the video is from Rajasthan's Shahpura, and was recorded when a man was passing through Delhi-Jaipur National Highway. The man recording the video asked the man to not eat meat from the road, and helped him with some food and water.

A Twitter user shared the video targetting BJP for the plight of poor people.

The shared video has the logo of 'The Rational Daily', and for more information, we checked their website where we found a report on this incident

According to the report, a person uploaded this video on a social media site asserting that he helped the person.

We further checked the profile of the person, Pradhuman Singh Naruka, who originally shared this video. The video was shared with the caption that can be roughly translated to, "Humanity was ashamed on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway in Shahpura, Rajasthan when a laborer was forced to eat a dead dog due to hunger. The most important thing is that no one stopped the car and did not help the person. Anyway, I offered him water and gave him money. If you ever see someone hungry, then please help."

After this video went viral on social media, Pradhuman shared a video on Facebook, giving all the details of the incident. He informed that while passing through Shahpura, on May 18, he saw a poor man with no slippers, eating raw meat of a dead animal from the road. He was shocked to see that many people were passing by the road but no one stopped to help him. He said that the only motive of recording the video was to show people how insensitive we have become as humans. He also added that the government is doing their bit but as individuals, we should also come forward to help the needy.  He further informed that he helped the man with money, food, and water, but was not able to shift him to a safer place due to the 'social distancing' one is asked to follow at this time of coronavirus pandemic.
