An old picture of journalist Barkha Dutt riding pillion on a scooter with a young man is going viral on social media with a claim that she is riding with the commander of Kashmiri militant group, Hizbul Mujahideen Burhan Muzaffar Wani.
A former RAW officer NK Sood tweeted, "Barkha Dutt with terrorist Wani on a scooter in J&K. Of course, Wani was killed in an encounter later. Hope Barkha Dutt would have found a company of some other terrorist. Nationalism Barkha Dutt style"?
We found that the same picture was posted by Barkha Dutt herself on her Twitter account on August 2016 when authorities imposed restrictions, and curfew in parts of Kashmir after former Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on 8 July 2016.
Her tweet reads, "For Kashmir curfew days & when car drivers refuse to go further- a Scooty & a kind young man to the rescue in Budgam".
The picture of riding with a young man driving a scooter was posted by Barkha Dutt on 17 August 2016 and Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter with security forces on 8 July 2016. So, it is impossible to click a picture with Burhan Wani who was died one month ago.
Having said that it is possible that the picture was clicked when Burhan was alive and she posted the image much later. So, we searched the picture of Burhan Wani on Google and compared it with the viral picture of the person driving the scooter.
In the above Comparision, it is clear that they both are not the same people. The hairstyle, the amount of facial hair and the different structure of their faces clearly indicate that the two people are different.
The same picture was also viral on social media 3 years ago with a claim that Barkha Dutt was riding a scooter with terrorist Zakir Rashid (Zakir Musa).
But when we compared the man's face with Zakir Musa, we found that this claim is also wrong.

The claim is false that the former Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani gave Barkha Dutt a scooter ride in 2016. The same picture was also shared with a false claim that the man riding the scooter was Zakir Musa, the successor of Burhan Wani.
