A Viral Billboard Congratulating Akhilesh Yadav For Becoming Prime Minister is Photoshopped

Rumour

An image of a billboard is being circulated on social media apparently congratulating Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on the chances of becoming the prime minister. The text on the billboard reads: "The hearty possibility of becoming the Prime Minister... Shri Akhilesh Yadav, auspicious Akhilesh, happy country, happy state. Advertiser – Sunil Singh ‘Sajan’ MLC, Lucknow, Unnao".

A Facebook page named ‘PMO India: Report Card’ shared the viral billboard on his account and received of 8,600 likes and over 2,500 shares.

Several Facebook pages and Twitter handles including a journalist with The Hindu  Nistula Hebbar have shared this picture on his twitter account with a caption "Can Hindi pundits {who poke holes in other non-Hindi speakers' Hindi posts} please explain this...?

Our Investigation

We researched the viral billboard photo and found that this photo was also shared 5 months ago on Facebook by several people. A Facebook user Hamza Jalal Khan also shared this post on 2 January 2019 with a caption "New year's heartfelt possibility to Akhilesh Yadav" in a funny way.

After that, we compared both the images and found that all the elements of the viral billboard are the same that was shared earlier except the first sentence on the billboard which has been edited from 'New year's hearty' to 'hearty to become prime minister'. We also noticed that the first sentence of the fake image is edited with the font is visibly different from the rest of the words.

Also, the grammatical mistake can be seen on the billboard it should have been 'best wishes' not 'probability'.

On the green band at the bottom, we see MLC Sunil Singh ‘Sajan’, Lucknow whose name is printed on the hoarding. He shared the image on his Twitter and Facebook accounts both and denied the claims being written on the viral billboard. He said "After being shunned by the public, BJP's IT (Internet Terrorist) cell which is trying to capture EVMs has reached a new low . After tampering with my old hoarding, they are spreading rumors. Such poor actions will not weaken the fight for social justice, but strengthen it."

Fact

The viral billboard of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav with a caption of congratulating him for the possibility of becoming the prime minister is photoshopped.
