A notice has become increasingly viral on the social media about the Coronavirus claiming that Amul is going to close all the chilling centers from 21 March 2020 due to the coronavirus.
The process of cooling raw milk is done in chilling centers, so that it can be stored for a long time.
A Facebook user name Mohammed Mohsin Ansari shared the notice on the 19th March. The notice dated 18th March with a subject "Regarding closing down of chilling center due to Coronavirus" reads, "All the milk producers are informed that the collection of milk will be discontinued from 21.03.2020. Everyone is being informed in advance that all chilling centers will be closed indefinitely from 21.03.2020".
In the investigation, we found that the viral claim is false that Amul is closing the chilling centers indefinitely due to Coronavirus. We did not find any official evidence to support the claim that Amul is closing its chilling center indefinitely from 21 March 2020.
We searched with the related keywords and got a tweet of RS Sodhi, the managing director of Amul Limited from his official Twitter account. He wrote, "It seems somebody spreading this news which is fake and none of our milk chilling center or procurement activities are going to close down, Rather we are procuring more."
In conclusion, the viral claim is false that Amul is closing the chilling centers indefinitely from 21 March 2020 due to Coronavirus. Amul has not issued any such notice regarding the closing of its chilling center.
