A number of claims are doing rounds on social media after NCP, INC and Shiv Sena formed a coalition government in Maharashtra, following a month-long political drama in the state. A twitter user named Gaurav Pradhan posted that the coalition government has cancelled two ambitious projects launched by the former government.

He wrote, "BJP Govt of Maharastra worked hard to provide irrigation solution to farmers of Vidarbha and Marathwada so that farmers suicide can be stopped Thanks to @shivsena and @OfficeofUT Sumraddhi Corridor and Marathwada water grid project is CANCELLED"

At the time of writing this article, this post has been shared more than 1500 times.

Maharashtra's Samruddhi Corridor is a project of connecting the state capital 'Mumbai' with Nagpur and reducing the travel time to 8 hours from 14 hours. The 800 km corridor will pass through 10 districts and is expected to increase the trade of farm produce and encourage the growth of agro-industries as the corridor passes through 65 percent of the state’s agro-based areas.

Marathwada water grid project was launched to alleviate the water crisis in the Marathwada region, which consists of 8 districts, as the region receives low rainfall. The project aimed to create an integrated piped network for the supply of water throughout the year.

The truth behind the claim

There has been no official announcement as of now that the projects have been canceled. However, it is being alleged that the newly appointed Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackrey is reviewing many projects introduced by the former government, including Maharashtra's Samruddhi Corridor and Marathwada water grid project.

According to a report by Business Today, the project of building the Mumbai-Nagpur corridor may be put on hold.

Officials from the coalitions government have also stated the government is also reviewing the Marathwada water grid project.

The coalition government is also reviewing other projects such as  Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi corridor, South Mumbai-Western Suburb connector, Bandra to Versova sea link and Thane creek bridge (Rs. 800 crores), as per a  report by Republic World.

In conclusion, there is no official announcement of the cancellation of Maratha water grid projects and Samruddhi Corridor project. However, according to reports, the government is reviewing both of these projects.
