Recently, some Twitter users have been sharing a video which shows a girl voicing anti-India opinions while seeking the help of Pakistan. This is followed by her burning the Indian flag. The video has also been picked up by several users and has been widely shared.

A Congress volunteer shared the video on Twitter with a caption "In the time of those who trampled the tricolor, this insult to the tricolor is common, so the Bhakta will remain silent on it."  (roughly translated from Hindi)

According to reports, the original video of the girl who claims herself to be of Naga origin, burning the Indian flag dates back to 22nd August 2017. The full video is of one-minute-and-32-second.

“Dear Pakistani nation, first of all I wish you all a very happy Independence Day. I’d like to tell you that we Nagas also observe 14th of August as our Independence Day because like you, we also achieved our independence on the same day from (the) British. Unfortunately, you remained independent while we became slaves of India who reoccupied us after (the) British left. To this date, Nagas continue to fight against Brahmin terrorist state just like Kashmiris and Sikhs for freedom. Today, I want to burn this flag of occupation and seek your support for the Naga cause”.

The girl then burns the Indian Tricolour and resumes her statement.

“We are not Indians and this is not India. We observe 15th of August as a black day. We have our own history, culture, language, our own country and army. And we now want our freedom”.

And the end of it, a statement, purportedly made by Mahatma Gandhi to the doyen of Naga insurgency movement AZ Phizo on July 19, 1947, appears on the screen in the form of texts.

“Mahatma Gandhi said: Nagas have every right to be independent…If you (Nagas) do not wish to join the Union of India, nobody will force you to do that. I will sacrifice my life for the Nagas and I will ask the Indian Army to shoot me first before any Naga was killed. India has no right to attack you”.

satyavijayi.com has provided the link of the full video but it is no longer available on Youtube due to a copyright claim by a person called Fahad Kahut. 

With a little bit of research, we found his Twitter account and got the information that he is a self-proclaimed Pakistani filmmaker and social activist.

In his tweets, he has attached several videos and that leads us to his Youtube Channel which has the same profile picture as that of his Twitter. The same picture is also used as an icon in all his videos. Looking at his Youtube Channel, we see a clear pattern of Anti-India and Pro Pakistani content. 

Thus it can be confirmed that the video which shows a supposed Naga girl burning an Indian Flag might be propaganda spread by Kahut who’s entire channel bears Anti-India content. Other videos on Youtube which share the same video, has the thumbnail of his Youtube channel which is also another factor of confirmation that the video was the product of this Pakistani filmmaker and is not from India.

Many people also speculate whether the girl is actually from Nagaland or not. Many comments from people of Nagaland themselves claim that she is probably Chinese and is pretending to be a Naga to spread propaganda. Most of them have been suspicious because of that girl’s accent. 

Many Anti-Indian YouTube channels have posted this video. For instance, this video was shared by a channel called ‘Republic of Buzz’ which is filled with Anti-Indian videos. However, the video which had over 50k views has been removed due to legal complaints from the government of India.

In conclusion, the video shared by congress supporters which were picked up by others is not of recency. It is an outdated video which is being used to spread propaganda. The roots of the video have been traced to Pakistan. However, the ethnicity of the girl in the video is yet to be confirmed.
