Fact Check : Video of a man being brutally beaten by a student of a collage shared as case of mob lynching

Summary

The viral video shows a fight between students at a college in Andhra Pradesh. The incident was a matter of Love affair.

A video is going viral on social media in which a mob of students attacked a young man with belts and stones. A tweeter user name Ali Sohrab tweeted the video with a caption What Kind of  New India you have made Modi?

The tweet received 907 of retweets and over 1,502 likes at the time of writing this article.

The same video is also going viral on Facebook. A user name Hamid HS posted the video with a message that "Terror has been unleashed, don’t know where the video is from and so many boys have got together to mercilessly beat up a boy, don’t know if he is alive or dead, this video has reached to me, you are requested to share, so that the truth may come out, we hope the government and the law find out such mischief and strictly punish them".

Matter of Love Affair with a Girl

When we searching on google we found a video by ETV Andhra Pradesh dated 28 June 2019. The incident happened in Government Arts College in Ananthapuram district of the state.

The incident is the matter of Love affair. According to a report, Shivayya would occasionally go to the Arts college to meet his friend Rajesh. During this time, he fell in love with a female student, who was familiar with another student named Bharat. Upon learning of Shivayya's intentions, Bharat chose to give him a warning and called him to the college on June 25. When Shivayya reached the college, Bharat along with 25 other students attacked him in front of the e-commerce building in the campus. The victim was knocked unconscious after being hit with belts and boulders.

When the video went viral on social media, the matter was brought to the attention of the local police officials. According to the police, the victim's condition is stable now and is recovering and they registered an FIR. The accused have been arrested and remanded to custody. It was clarified that Shivayya was not a student at Arts College.

Conclusion: the viral video of a mob of students attacked a young man in a college in Andhra Pradesh was not related to the college the fight is occurred due to a personal matter of love affair.
