A video of Sonia Gandhi saying that she is not afraid of anyone as she is the daughter-in-law of Indira Gandhi has been shared on social media with the claim that Sonia Gandhi said this recently after being called by the ED. In an investigation, it was found that the video is from 2015.
A video went viral on Facebook, featuring Sonia Gandhi's statement "I am the daughter-in-law of Indira Ji (Indira Gandhi), and I fear no one." A post by Tejinder Malik from June 4 with over 200 shares claimed that Sonia Gandhi's statement came after she was summoned by ED in connection with the National Herald money laundering case.
Although the date of the statement is not explicitly mentioned, it may be interpreted as recent, since Gandhi is set to appear before ED on June 8.
Doing a relevant keyword search, it was found that the clip with the statement is actually from 2015. An India Today news bulletin on YouTube from
December 2015 featured this video statement of Sonia Gandhi.
The articles said that Sonia Gandhi's statement came in after she, along with Rahul Gandhi and five others, were asked by a trial court in Delhi to appear in the National Herald case.
In conclusion, Sonia Gandhi's comment did not come after the ED summoned her in 2022. The comment was in relation to the same case, but on a summon by the trial court in Delhi in 2015.
