Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated every year on April 14 to commemorate the memory of BR Ambedkar, the father of the constitution of India and civil rights activist. The day marks the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar who was born on April 14, 1891. This year too, there were reports of Ambedkar Jayanti celebration in someplace despite Covid-19 restrictions.
Amid this, a picture is getting viral on social media, in which a huge crowd is seen on the road and the tableau decorated in the middle, and the blue canopy is seen on one side. Through this image, it is being claimed that those who questioned the Kumbh Mela have no objection to the birth anniversary celebration of Bhimrao Ambedkar during Covid.
A Twitter user name Er. Durgesh Pandey shares a post with a claim that "Those who questioned the Kumbh Mela have no objection to the birth anniversary of Bhimrao Ambedkar During corona. Corona is everywhere.
In our Investigation, we found that the viral claim is false. This picture is of the birth anniversary of the BR Ambedkar celebration held at Solapur, Maharashtra in 2017 and it has nothing to do with covid.
After doing reverse image research on Google, we found a verified YouTube channel named "7 AIMS" in which a video was published on 24 April 2017. The viral picture has been taken from this video. According to the description, this video is of the Ambedkar Jayanti celebration in Solapur, Maharashtra. A massive crowd seen in the viral image can be seen after 28 seconds in the video.
However, we found several news reports which claim that Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated this year at someplace breaking the rules of Coronavirus guidelines. According to a report of ETV Bharat, in Bharatpur, a procession was taken out on the birth anniversary of Bhimrao Ambedkar on 14 April in which the corona guideline was raised fiercely.
