A screenshot of an article published on a satirical website stating that Pfizer announced that it planned to integrate Microsoft’s Pluton processor chip into an upgraded COVID-19 vaccine is being widely shared on social media as a real one.
On April 13, amid the surging COVID-19 cases in the country, Russia's Sputnik V has been cleared by India's drug regulator making it the third vaccine to be the approved for emergency use in the country against the deadly coronavirus.
According to some media reports, some other vaccines such as Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer may soon be allowed emergency use, given the speed of Kovid.
Now, a screenshot of an article is being widely shared on social media platforms claiming that in In April 2021, Pfizer announced that it planned to integrate Microsoft’s Pluton processor chip into an upgraded COVID-19 vaccine in order to “reduce symptoms associated with the vaccine.
A Facebook user shared the screenshot wit the caption saying, "Pfizer just released a new statement for investors citing they’ve inked a deal with Microsoft to integrate their Pluton processor chip to reduce symptoms associated with the vaccine."
Several other users are sharing the screenshots of the same article on Facebook. As per the screenshot, the article was published on a website named 'ValueWalk'.
In our investigation, we found this claim to be false. The article originated with a website that describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature.
On checking the 'ValueWalk' website, we found this article published on April 9, 2021. The article also quoted Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella saying, “This is a great revolution in medicine, with the addition of Microsoft’s powerful Pluton chip, it will make tracking the data of vaccine recipients easier than ever. We can use this chip to regulate body temperature, reduce chances of COVID-19 contraction, and make one more likely to choose our products over Apple.”
At the end of the article, it was mentioned that the article first appeared on The Stonk Market.
On checking 'The Stonk Market' website, we found the same article published on the website on April 8, 2021. However, the website has described itself as, "TheStonkMarket.com is a financial satire site. The site provides unique coverage on the financial industry, stocks, hedge funds and global markets. Mission: To provide daily humor and make stonks go up."
Moreover, we did not find any credible report making the same claim as in the viral post.
