An edited video of PM Modi's rally in West Bengal's Jaynagar is being shared with a false claim that PM Modi was waving at an empty ground during campaigns.
Amid the election campaigns in the poll-bound states of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Assam, a video is being widely shared on social media platforms showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi waving at an empty ground.
A Twitter user named Reshma Alam shared the video with the caption, "Those who can't see the crowd go for eye check-up."
This video has been retweeted over 2500 times.
The video was also shared on the official Twitter page of Congress with the caption "Another
In our investigation, we found the viral video to be morphed. The original video is from PM Modi's rally in West Bengal's Jainagar on April 1, 2021. In the original video, one can see the crowd which has been blurred out to show empty ground in the viral video. Audio has also been removed from the viral video.
One performing relevant keyword search, we found this on BJP4WestBengal Facebook page. The caption shared with the video reads, "With enthusiasm, the people of Joynagar welcomed their beloved Prime Minister to this holy land of Bengal. #NowSonarBanglaEbarBJP."
In this original video, one can clearly see PM Modi reached the venue, and as soon as he reaches one can notice the crowd cheering from outside the boundaries.
The video has been shared on several other Facebook pages.
