Summary

An unrelated video showing a brawl between two groups of people at Delhi's Aerocity is being shared with a false claim that Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn was thrashed by farmers for tweeting against them.

Recently, a video has surfaced on social media platforms showing a brawl at a driveway claiming that it shows Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan being attacked in Delhi by protesting farmers for supporting the farm laws.

Facebook user shared the video with the caption, "Breaking : Ajay Devgan ke saath maarpit hui Delhi main."

This post received over 600 reshares.

The video is also doing rounds on Twitter with a caption in Hindi that can be roughly translated to, "Ajay Devgan thrashed in Delhi. He tweeted against the farmers."

Some other Twitter users are sharing the video with the caption saying, "After BJP MLA, actor Ajay Devgn thrashed. What is happening? Has the BJP washing machine broken down that the public is now beating them?”

The viral video shows an ugly clash between two groups of people.

The truth behind the claim

In our investigation, we found this claim to be false. The video does not show Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan but a clash between two groups of people at Delhi's Aerocity after a road rage incident. With the help of reverse image search using the keyframes of the video, we found the same visuals in an India Today report on March 27. According to the report, "An ugly clash was reported between two groups in Delhi's Aerocity after a road rage incident. The Delhi Police has started investigating the matter and could be an afterparty fall out."

NDTV also reported the incident and as per the report, two people have also been arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with the case. “Those arrested were identified as Taranjit Singh (31), a resident of Janakpuri who deals in the sale and purchase of cars, and Naveen Kumar (29), a resident of Chhawla village who is a property dealer. Both of them have no previous criminal history,” the report quoted Police as saying.

According to an Indian Express report, "A senior police officer said they received a call around 2.06 am about the fight at Worldmark I in Aerocity. "We went to the spot and found that a few people had gathered outside the mall. The caller wasn't at the spot and soon everyone dispersed. During the inquiry, we found that a Mercedes, belonging to Kumar hit Singh's car lightly, after which they got into a heated argument," said the officer.

Moreover, Ajay Devgn himself took to Twitter and dismissed the widespread claim. He wrote, "Some ‘doppelgänger’ of mine seems to have got into trouble. I’ve been getting concerned calls. Just clarifying, I’ve not traveled anywhere. All reports regarding me being in any brawl are baseless. Happy Holi."

In conclusion, an unrelated video showing a brawl between two groups of people at Delhi's Aerocity is being shared with a false claim that Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn was thrashed by farmers for tweeting against them.
