The viral claim is false that Arvind Kejriwal is threatening in a speech saying that if Gujaratis oppose him, they will crush them. We found that the viral clip has been cropped from a speech of Arvind Kejriwal from October 2016 in Surat, Gujarat where he was referring to Home Minister Amit Shah.
A video has surfaced on social media platforms showing a man spitting on rotis before putting them inside a tandoor with the claim that the incident was recorded at Red Rose Palace in Hyderabad’s Nampally.
A Facebook user Sultan Shah shared the video with the caption in Hindi that can be roughly translated to, "The person making Naan ki Roti at Red Rose in Nampally is spitting on every roti.”
Several other users on Facebook and Twitter are sharing the video with a similar caption.
In our investigation, we found this claim to be misleading. The incident shown in the video is true however it took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut and not Hyderabad. The man seen in the video has been identified and arrested by Meerut police.
With the help of keyword search, we found the screengrab of the video carried in a news report published by Times Now on February 22. As per the report, the incident took place at Aroma Gardens in Meerut and the man in the video has been identified as Sohail.
As soon as the video went viral, Hindu Jagran Manch activists protested outside the LLRM police station in Meerut demanding action against the man. Following this, the man was arrested by Meerut Police and an FIR registered against him. Sohail was cooking at a wedding when the incident was recorded.
Meerut Police took to Twitter and confirmed the arrest.
In conclusion, a video from Meerut showing a man spitting on Rotis is being falsely shared an incident from Hyderabad. The man seen in the video has been arrested by police.
