An edited image showing Thunberg eating on a train as impoverished kids look through the window from the outside is being widely shared on social media in the backdrop of the Farmers' protest toolkit case.
In the backdrop of Delhi Police's investigation into the activist Greta Thunberg ‘toolkit’ case, an image surfaced on social media platforms showing Thunberg eating on a train as impoverished kids look through the window from the outside.
A Twitter user shared the image along with a poster with the caption saying, "India ask these anti forces #AskGretaWhy."
This post retweeted over 750 times.
Several other Twitter users are sharing the same image with the hashtag 'AskGretaWhy'.
In our investigation, we found that the viral image is morphed.
With the help of reverse image search, we found the original image shared by Thunberg on her Twitter page on January 22, 2019 with the caption 'Lunch in Denmark'.
Clearly, this image shows some trees outside the windows.
On further checking using the reverse image search tool, we found also found the image that has been edited onto the original image. We found this image carried in a Reuters report by Stephanie Hancock. The report stated how residents of the village of Korosigna in the northern Central African Republic, were displaced to makeshift camps in the forest after the ‘bush war'.
In conclusion, an edited image showing Thunberg eating on a train as impoverished kids look through the window from the outside is being widely shared on social media in the backdrop of the Farmers' protest toolkit case.
