The viral claim is false that the painting of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose unveiled at Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Ram Nath Kovind is actually a portrait of Prasenjit Chatterjee who acted as Netaji in a movie. We found that the portrait of Netaji in Rashtrapati Bhavan is not of Prosenjit Chatterjee but Netaji.
A photo is being shared on social media platforms showing a man and a policeman flashing sticks at each other claiming that the image is from the tractor rally clashes on Republic Day in Delhi. The man seen in this viral image is wearing a white t-shirt with PM Modi on it.
A Facebook user shared the image with a caption in Hindi that can be roughly translated to, "I am folding my hands, don't spread lies. Do not discredit farmers."
This post received over 150 reshares at the time of writing this article.
Several other Facebook users are sharing this image with the same claim.
In our investigation, we found that the viral is not related to the recent clash between the police and protesting farmers in Delhi.
With the help of reverse image search, we found this image carried in a news report published by One India on June 30, 2014.
As per the articles, the BJP workers staged violent protests against the ruling Samajwadi Party(SP) due to lack of law and order and power crisis in the the Uttar Pradesh capital, Lucknow. BJP leaders accused police personnel of targetting them without any provocation and termed the police action as "unlawful and unwarranted".
The same image was also carried in a report by 'The Telegraph' with the caption "A BJP activist fights with a policeman during the protest outside the Assembly in Lucknow on Monday. (PTI)."
In conclusion, an old image from Lucknow showing a clash between BJP supporters and police is being falsely linked to the ongoing farmer's protest.
