Fact Check: No, this image does not Friday prayers at US Capitol under Joe Biden's presidentship

Summary

A decade old image from September 2009 is being widely shared on social media is being shared with a false claim that it shows Friday prayer held at the foot of the Capitol Hill after Biden became the US President.

A set of images have surfaced on social media showing cars on fire claiming that these are scenes from the violence during the farmers' tractor rally on Republic Day. 

A Facebook user shared the image with the caption saying "Latest images from Delhi."

This post received over 122 reshares. 

Several other users are also sharing the images with a similar claim.

The truth behind the claim

In our investigation, we found this claim to be false. These are images old dating back to 2019 showing a protest held in Jammu against the Pulwama terror attack.

With the help of reverse image search, we found these images in a 2019 article by “The Quint”. Reportedly, the pictures were taken in Jammu on February 15, 2019, during a protest against the killing of 40 CRPF personnel in Pulwama in a suicide attack the day before. Both the pictures are credited to the news agency Press Trust of India (PTI).

Using reverse image search, we found this image on the website of the international news agency Associated Press. "A protestor shouts slogans against Thursday's attack on a paramilitary convoy, in Jammu, India, Friday, Feb.15, 2019. The death toll from a car bombing on the paramilitary convoy in Indian-controlled Kashmir has climbed at least 40, becoming the single deadliest attack in the divided region's volatile history, security officials said Friday," reads the caption. The image was published on February 15, 2019.

In conclusion, old images showing protest held in Jammu after the Pulwama terror attack is being falsely shared as recent ones from violence during farmers' protest in Delhi.
