On January 11, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma welcomed their first child, a baby girl. Following this, a set of viral images are doing rounds on social media claiming that they show the newborn baby

The internet is flooded with baby pictures claiming that they show first look Virat and Anushka’s newborn. Let's verify the claims being made in these viral posts.

The image on the left has been photoshopped to superimpose Anushka and Virat’s faces on the faces of Karisma Kapoor and her ex-husband Sanjay Kapur with their son Kiaan Raj Kapoor, days after he was born in 2010. Using reverse image searches, we found several Bollywood websites which carried the original image. 

The image of the right has earlier been used by a YouTube channel on 18 November 2020 and 1 January 2021 with photoshopped images of Anushka Sharma and Kareena Kapoor.

This image is also misleading. Using a reverse image search, we found that this picture is a stock photo upload by one Rehan Qureshi on Shutterstock.

Using a reverse image search, we found this image carried in a news report by NDTV published on 3 August 2017. The image was credited to the image to iStock photos.

In conclusion, several old and unrelated images are being falsely shared on the internet to show the first look of Virat and Anushka’s baby.
