The viral video being widely shared claiming that 20,000 Nihang Singhs are marching towards Delhi in support of protesting farmer, is at least 2 years old and is not related to the ongoing farmers' protest in Delhi against the centre's new farm bills.
An image of journalist Ravish Kumar showing him walking on a street while some people can be seen holding flags of All India Kisan Sabha is doing rounds on social media claiming that Ravish Kumar participated in the protest under the banner of the left-inclined party.
A Twitter user named Sachin Naik shared the image with a caption in Hindi saying, "A journalist popular for impartial journalism was seen marching for Biryani under the banner of a party. Will an impartial journalist in Modi Raj have to do all this for Biryani. Highly condemnable."
Several other users on Twitter are sharing this image with the same caption.
The image is also being widely shared on Facebook with a similar claim.
In our investigation, we found this claim to be false. The image is November 2018 when Ravish Kumar covered the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) in Delhi for his prime-time show on NDTV.
With the help of a relevant keyword search on google, we found an NDTV report aired on November 29, 2018, titled, 'Ground Report of Kisan Mukti March in Delhi.' In the video, it is clearly visible that Ravish Kumar is wearing the same dress as in the viral image and had a red flag in the background that belongs to the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee.
Reportedly, in November 2018, the farmers held a two-day protest on the outskirts of Delhi at Ramlila ground, demanding a special parliament session to discuss the agrarian crisis. Farmers demanded the passing of bills for higher minimum support price (MSP) for grains and sought complete relief from farm loan debt.
In conclusion, an old image of Ravish Kumar covering farmers' protest in November 2018, has gone viral with a false claim that he joined the ongoing farmers' protest in Delhi.
