A video from December 2016 is now being shared to show a BSP supporters rally in Bihar amid Bihar Assembly elections.
In the backdrop of the Bihar Assembly election, a picture of a malnourished man casting vote is being widely shared on social media platforms in relation to the ongoing elections in the state.
A Facebook user named Rishabh Trivedi uploaded the image with a caption in Hindi that can be roughly translated, "A living picture of 15 years of development of Nitish Raj in Bihar, casting votes. They must have come with the same hope that the polling booth wishes that some pictures change, what they are suffering their children don't suffer."
The same image is viral on Facebook with the same caption.
At the time of writing this article, this post has been reshared over 350 times.
In our investigation, we found that the image is being shared with a misleading claim. The image dates back to 2014 and is from Assam, not Bihar.
With the help of a reverse image search on google, we found this image carried by an article published by The Hindu on April 13, 2014. According to the report, the image shows a 22-year-old Shivraj Hasnu, who belongs to Tiwa tribe, voting at the Rongbang Pathar L.P in Karbi Anglong Hill district under the Autonomous District Lok Sabha constituency of Assam.
The image is credited to Ritu Raj Konwar.
In conclusion, an old image from 2014 of a Tiwa tribesman casting vote in Assam is being falsely shared to be from recent assembly elections in Bihar.
