Fact Check: Old video and photos from old farmers' protests shared as recent

  • Share

Summary

All the photos and videos shared in the post are of old incidents of farmers protest at different places in the country. These photos and videos have nothing to do with the ongoing farmer’s protests against the agriculture bills passed by the Government of India.

Farmers in several states across the country especially in Punjab and Haryana have been protesting against three farm reform bills with over two dozen farmer organizations announcing their support to the "call for the bandh".

Amid this, collage of some photographs and videos of farmer protests are being circulated with the claim that these are from the recent farmer protests in Panipat.

A Facebook user SiyaRam Gurjar shares the post claiming that "This crowd of farmers in Panipat is telling that the time for the final immersion of the BJP has arrived. In no time we will march towards Delhi, and we won't stop no matter how hard the government tries to." (Translated from Hindi)
