A picture is getting viral on social media claiming that IAS and IPS officers of the country are kneeling in front of politicians in India.
A Facebook user name Vinod Kumar shared a picture with a caption, "I don’t know from where does this photo belong but it is enough to see the reality IPS and IAS officers in India. This picture is revealing everything. This is the black ink on free India". (Translated from Hindi )
The same picture is also getting viral on Twitter with the same claim.
In our investigation, we found that the viral claim is false. This is actually a movie scene from a Bollywood film ‘Kya Yahi Sach Hai’.
After doing a reverse image search on google we found the same image being uploaded as part of a movie review on the 'Koimoi' film news website on ‘30 December 2011’. According to the article, this photo is shared as a still from the Bollywood film ‘Kya Yahi Sach Hai’. The film is based on Ex IPS Officer Y.P. Singh's novel 'Carnage By Angels'. The story and screenplay have also been penned by Y.P. Singh and they are both half-baked.
After using keyword search for 'Kya Yahi Sach Hai' movie we found this movie was uploaded by Ex-IPS officer Y.P. Singh on YouTube on October 24, 2016.The viral scene can be found at the 1:48:18 timestamp in the video.
According to the description of the video, this is a film based on the best-selling novel 'Carnage by Angels' written by the then serving officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS), based in Mumbai, India, Y.P. Singh during the time when he was still in service. Y.P. Singh has been an officer of the 1985 batch of the IPS. Seeing the fast deteriorating ethics in police functioning, which otherwise has profound social consequences, Y.P. Singh took it as his mission to fight corruption from within.
In conclusion, the viral photograph showing IPS officers kneeling in front of a politician in India is still from the movie ‘Kya Yahi Sach Hai’. The film is based on the best-selling novel 'Carnage by Angels' which was written by the then serving officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) Y.P. Singh.
