The claims made by some Twitter account that a Dalit family was attacked in Loni, Ghaziabad for not chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' is false. The fight erupted only because a minor girl was eve teased by some members of the dominating community of that area.
In a recent interview with Times Now, Kangana Ranaut referred to Urmila Matondkar as a 'soft porn star'. Earlier, Urmila Matondkar had targeted Kangana Ranaut and said that if Kangana wants to fight on drugs then she should start from her state Himachal Pradesh. Kangana Ranaut has alleged that 'people connected to drugs' are running the film industry.
Amid the controversy, a photograph of an Amul advertisement is being circulated on social media with the claim that the advert refers to a recent controversy between Urmila Matondkar and Kangana Ranaut. The advert shows a cartoon of Urmila in a red dress with a plunging neckline. The cartoon is captioned as ‘Not MASOOM anymore?’
Journalist Swati Chaturvedi posted the cartoon, calling it disgusting. She further alleged that Amul works for the BJP IT cell.
Mandeep Singh Bajwa, a national security and strategic affairs analyst shared the image with the caption: "Amul has displayed the worst possible taste in releasing this ad. Playing up the 'Urmilla Matondkar is a soft-porn actress' accusation. Seriously, Amul?"
In our investigation, we found that the viral claim is false. The cartoon is from 1995 when Rangeela had released. The cartoon has nothing to do with the current controversy between Urmila Matondkar and Kangana Ranaut.
After doing reverse image research on Google, we found a blog published on April 05, 2017, in which the same cartoon is featured. According to the blog the cartoon was published by Amul after Rangeela released in 1995.
We also went on the official website of Amul and found this cartoon posted on the list of Amul hits from 1995 and is titled 'Rangeela Geela.'
On September 11, 'Rangeela' director Ram Gopal Varma, had shared the picture commemorating 25 years of the film. He wrote, "Amul hoarding after RANGEELA released ".
In conclusion, we found that a 1995 Amul cartoon is being shared as recent and is falsely being linked to the controversy involving Urmila Matondkar and Kangana Ranaut. The cartoon is from 1995 when Rangeela had released. It has nothing to do with the current controversy between her and Kangana Ranaut and Urmila Matondkar.
