The viral one-minute audio clip is indeed taken from Sardar Vallabhai Patel's address on January 3, 1948.
Mojo Story which is led by Barkha Dutt recently got exposed for sharing fake news on their social media platforms. These misinformations have been published as news without verification by the Mojo Story team.
One of the most recent incidents of Mojo Story spreading fake news is regarding them reporting about the shelling in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan. They had used outdated visuals to support their story on the shelling taking place in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, the photographer who had shot the images shared by Mojo Story took Twitter to clarify that the images shared by Mojo Story are actually from 2018 from a South Kashmir region called Shopian. He further called out Mojo Story and its founder Barkha Dutt to stop sharing propaganda.
Journalist Ahmer Khan wrote on Twitter "The pictures posted by @themojo_in which is run by @BDUTT are from South #Kashmir's Shopian shot in 2018. Here sharing my picture from Instagram that I shot on April 1, 2018, in Shopian. Stop sharing propaganda @themojo_in !".
To which Barkha Dutt replied tweeting, “I am told these have been removed and the team has been asked to examine how they were shared without verification. Thanks”.
This was followed by a TOI journalist Raj Shekhar who claimed that another video shared by Mojo Story of a bunch of policemen beating a man, was actually not of recency, but eight months old. To which Mojo Story had issued another verification. However, it was confirmed that this video had in fact taken place in recent time and the Mojo Story report was right. Journalist Raj Shekhar took Twitter to confirm police clarification which did not support his false claims.
However, this is not the first time Barkha Dutt has gotten herself involved with fake news. Last year she made false claims regarding the Khelo India App launch and Modi’s participation in it. In another instance of her sharing fake news is when she tweeted about how the RBI Deputy Governor Viral Acharya resigned when he did not.
