Some unrelated pictures are being shared with a false claim that Akshay Kumar and Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray's son Aaditya has launched the same app on which late actor Shushant Singh Rajput was working.
Pakistani-Canadian author Tarek Fatah tweeted a video of a large gathering of Muslims chanting ‘Islam Zindabad’ Claiming to be from Kolkata. You can watch the video here:
The video was shared by Fatah with the claim, “This is not Karachi, Kashmir, or Kerala. No, this chant of “Islam Zindabad” is being raised in Kolkata, the capital city of #MamataBanerjee-ruled #WestBengal!”
After that, the same video is shared by several users on Facebook and Twitter with the same claim.
In our investigation, we found that the viral claim is false. This is a 3-year-old video from Bangladesh, not Kolkata.
After doing reverse image search using keyframes, we found a video on the Youtube channel of ‘Spicy Infotube’ published on 13 September 2017 with the caption, “Islami Andolon Bangladesh enclose Myanmar Embassy (sic).”
We found that the Kolkata Police have called Tarek Fatah’s tweet fake and initiated legal action on him, after that he deleted the tweet.
According to a news report dated 13th September 2017, thousands of people in capital Dhaka had rallied in protests against the violence like killings and arsons against Rohingya Muslims in the northern Rakhine state of Myanmar. Islami Andolon Bangladesh, a minor political party, organized the event drawing up to 20,000 people from across the country. They carried banners questioning the role of the world humanity, including the United Nations, amid such humanitarian crisis and some of them also read: “What is wrong with being Muslims, Suu Kyi?”
The flag of Bangladesh with the green background a red dot in the middle can be seen in a still-shot of the video which proves that it is from Bangladesh and not India.
In Conclusion, we found that a video of a large gathering of Muslims chanting ‘Islam Zindabad’ is not from India. This viral video is from September 2017 Dhaka, Bangladesh. The rally was organized by an Islamist political party in Bangladesh - Islami Andolon Bangladesh - in protest against the military crackdown on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
