India today shared an old video from Indonesia as a prank video from Goa to make people stay indoors.
Social Media is filling with new ideas and videos to aware and make people stay indoors during the 21-day-lockdown in the country as social distancing is crucial to fight coronavirus pandemic. India Today also shared a similar video on its official Twitter account suggesting that the video is from Goa. The video was shared with a caption, "Take a look at this man's innovative way to make people stay indoors in #Goa. #usergeneratedcontent #stayhomestaysafe #coronavirus."
You can watch the video here:
In this 17-second video, one can see two men riding on a bike on a deserted road, suddenly a man, dressed in white jumped in front of the bike. The bike gets imbalanced and both the men run away.
However, it turned out that the video is not from Goa or any part of India and was shot before the existence of Coronavirus. The video is actually from Jakarta, Indonesia and was shared on an Indonesian website in May 2019. The video was shared with a title that can be roughly translated to, "Hilarious, Men running away from Bridge After Seeing 'Pocong'."
'Pocong' is a term used in Indonesia and Malaysia to ghosts or soul of a dead person trapped in its shroud.
Moreover, the prank shown in the video shared by India Today is dangerous and should not be repeated by anyone. Such pranks can lead to serious accidents as the people riding bikes or driving cars can get imbalanced.
