A message is being viral on social media claiming that the US scientists have developed a vaccine for coronavirus. According to the message, the 'Roche medical company' of America will launch the vaccine very soon.

A Facebook page name Tooro Television shared a picture using the caption "Great news! Carona virus vaccine ready. Able to cure patient within 3 hours after injection. Hats off to US Scientists. Trump announced that Roche Medical Company will launch the vaccine next Sunday, and millions of doses are ready from it ! What is your say on this vaccine?"

The viral claim received 222 shares and 142 likes at the time of writing this article. 

We also received a request to verify the claim.

Fact Check

In the investigation, we found that Covid-19 IgM/IgG is a testing kit and not a vaccine. This kit also has no connection with Roche Diagnostics. It is made by Sugentech. No vaccine has been made for coronavirus yet.

Looking at the photo carefully, we saw the logo of the South Korean brand 'Sugentech' on it. By visiting the official website of the  'Sugentech' company, we searched the names of the products and found that Covid-19 IgM / IgG is also present in the list.

According to the website "SGTi-flex COVID-19 IgM/IgG is a gold nanoparticle-based immunochromatographic test kit for qualitative determination of COVID-19’s IgM and IgG antibodies in human whole blood (finger prick or venous), serum or plasma. The kits are accurate and easy to use and results can be observed with the naked eye within 10 minutes. .As there is no medicine or vaccine, the best way to combat this infection is isolation. A lot of people don’t have symptoms. Because of that, quick diagnostics are very important."

There are no FDA-approved drugs to treat Covid-19 yet. However, there is an acceleration in the process of vaccine development. However, U.S. researchers have given the first shot to the first person in a test of an experimental coronavirus vaccine on 16th March leading off a worldwide hunt for protection even as the pandemic surges. With this, the trial of the vaccine has started.

In conclusion, we found that photos of the Covid-19 test kit are being shared on social media with the false claim that American life-science company Roche has prepared the vaccine to deal with coronaviruses.
